We recently had the devastating news that Brighton and Hove Council have put forward a proposal to close St Peter’s Community Primary and Nursery School from August 2024. The parents and staff are very proud of our lovely school and will be deeply saddened as this would be a huge loss to our community.
St Peter’s has been educating the children of South Portslade for over 100 years, since it opened in 1906. The school is steeped in history with a beautiful Edwardian building and accessible Air Raid Shelters, built during the 2nd World War.
Our nursery opened in 2000 and is one of very few Local Authorities Nurseries left in B&H, where we offer a fantastic, high-quality education, with qualified and experienced teachers, offering extended hours at very low-cost fees.
Many pupils with Special Educational Needs attend our school and for those children to leave the secure and nurturing environment they are thriving in will be traumatic. Siblings may have to be separated at different schools.
Our school is a unique and happy place. Please help us save St Peter’s and show your support by joining our fight.
Details of how you can help to support us and links to the consultation, petition and meetings are all below.
