This term in Red Class...
Autumn term 1: This half term in Red Class we begin with settling into school sessions, followed by a short topic of ‘Learning to Learn’! Here we learn all about the staff in Red Class, our new class friends and the adults around the school who are here to help us. We find out about the school’s eight learning characters such as ‘Have a go Horse’ and ‘Persevering Penguin’ and how we can use them in our everyday learning. We explore the indoor and outdoor environment and begin to learn our daily routines.
On the week beginning the 30th September we start our next topic called ‘Bears, Bears, Bears’. We will discuss what the children already know about bears and read many key fiction and non-fiction texts. Our main story focus will be ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ and our (surprise!) Stunning Start to the topic will include a visit from some key characters…! We will centre all our learning around the topic of bears, for example, we will create bear artwork using various materials, practise our mathematical language of size and height by ordering different bears, use construction to build a bear cave and beds for the Three Bears, go on a bear hunt in P.E, write invitations to our teddies for a teddy bears picnic (our Fantastic Finish!) and much much more!
We will also be exploring the season of Autumn and celebrate both Harvest and Halloween before half term.
