St Peter's Community Primary School

Year 2

This term in Yellow Class...

Spring term: We are very excited about our ‘Flowers and Insects’ topic this term! For our stunning start, the RSPB will be leading us on a mini beast  hunt around school. Throughout the topic we will focus specifically on ants and bees, learning all about their communities, food chains and life cycles. We will be growing an assortment of plants and learning all about how they grow. In DT we will be planning and creating large insect models using a variety of materials and processes. We will be applying all of our plant and insect Science knowledge in Computing by researching, creating animations and using Purple Mash. Our focus in P.E. will be gymnastics and we will learn the fundamental gymnastic shapes and use these to create short sequences. Our focus text ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’ will inspire story writing and in Maths we’ll be learning all about multiplication and division. With Mrs Paget, we will be exploring insect themed music from famous composers, asking questions and holding conversations in Spanish and learning about the Easter story and it’s significance to Christians.
