This term in Red Class...
Spring term 2: This half term in Red Class we will be exploring the topic ‘Down on the farm’. We will discuss what the children already know about farms and what they would like to learn. Our key story focus will be ‘Farmer Duck’ by Martin Waddell along with other stories such as Mr. Gumpy’s Outing, The Little Red Hen and Rosie’s Walk. Our stunning start to the topic will be to create a multi-media farm animal of your child’s choice with oil pastels and collage materials. Your child’s finished farm animal will be sent off and framed ready for an art exhibition on Wednesday 27th March in St. Peter’s school hall, where from 2.00pm onwards you are welcomed into the exhibition to view your child’s work and purchase if you so wish.
We will centre all our learning around the topic of farms over this half term, for example, we will discuss the daily routines and roles of a farmer and explore how they are a key feature of our world around us. We will group, sort, count, double and halve farm animals during our Maths sessions, draw and colour farm animals using the ICT programme 2simple2paint, use our small world farm to recreate roles and experiences, explore our farmyard role play area and take a trip to Plumpton College Farm during lambing season (our Fantastic Finish) plus much much more!
