This term in Red Class...
The topic for this half term in Red Class is ’Grow, grow grow!’ As Spring has finally sprung we will be exploring what plants and flowers need to grow, look closely at the different stages of growth and label the different parts of a flower. We will also look at the life cycle of a butterfly, the stages of human growth and measure how much we’ve grown ourselves since September! As our ‘Stunning Start’ we will explore the school both inside and outside looking for all things that grow and plant our very own beans (just like in Jack and the Beanstalk!) which we will monitor and measure in our very own bean diaries.
We will centre all of our learning around the topic of growing, for example, we will look at capacity using plant pots and soil, explore both where and how fruit and vegetables grow, make and eat a healthy vegetable soup, create our own flower art in the style of Andy Warhol, explore money through the use of our roleplay Garden Centre, visit local allotments and a Garden Centre (our marvellous middle), create our own stories about magic beans and much much more! We will finish with a fantastic trip to the i360 down on Brighton seafront, where we can grow up and up into the clouds, just like a beanstalk!
